Long-distance move from Florida to Massachusetts

Nightmare

Let me start by saying a one star review is WAY overstated but they done have lower stars

I hired this so called company in sept 2021, but is not who showed up to gather my things, Ocean Moving and Storage was who they subcontracted to. The men show up and pack my things into the truck as i watched, 35 bins, 1 bedroom set, 2 tvs, a buffet table, a 7 foot Christmas Tree, step stools, an electric fire place and a small computer desk. What they do not tell you is that your things will be moved into various trucks as they make their way to your destination..my things arrived by 2 men in a white truck with no lettering on it, which was not the truck or the men that started this nightmare.

They unloaded all of my things except for 2 bins which had all my apple articles, pictures from when my grandparents were young to present, a 7 ft Christmas tree a step stool, clothing and some watches.

When i called Ocean they were helpful trying to find my things, however, they cannot locate them.

There are only two outcomes to this nightmare, they were either given to another customer or they were taken,

When i called Standard Van Lines to question why they didnt tell me they subcontract to another vendor, he hung up on me. I am not finished dealing with them, i will continue to try get my things back even if i have to go to their location and bring the sheriffs with me. I will also be contacting the police and the DOT in florida,

Ocean moving and storage did state i should fill out a claim form, which i did, but that insurance company gives you close to nothing in monetary value. its the pictures that are lost that upsets me, they cannot be duplicated as they were originals of my family since my great grandparents...Again ocean has been great with me its Standard that screwed me.

Beware of Standard they are nothing more than scammers and thieves

Long-distance move from Corpus Christi, TX to New York, NY

Scam!!

Stars 0/5

I got in touch with him Marc, Senior moving coordinator on Sept 15 to move my household items from Corpus Christi, TX to New York city. He offered to do it for 1877 dollars. I was given 21, 22 as first and second. I signed the contract and paid 637 dollars as deposit then.

On 20th afternoon, I called him to confirm the pickup. He replied, no one has been assigned yet and offered to move on Sept 28th for an extra 400 dollars. I decided not to go with them and found another company. They promised me a refund, which I never received. It’s been 2 months. I called them maybe 70 times, not kidding. Either no one answers or they hang up on you.

I finally made a report to Federal trade commission. https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/ It’s easy, I called this number, 877-382-4357 and made complaint over the phone. You can complain too. I will next report it to the state attorney general, and continue reporting to as many as govt agencies I can, until I get my money back. Here are the culprits & their phone numbers involved. Stay away from them!! Marc Levine – 7862885780, 877 222 4550 Ext. 2, 888 900 0372; Mia – rudest lady

Long-distance move from Pittsburgh, PA to Jacksonville, FL

US Standard Van Lines-A Complete Fraudulent Enterprise

I booked my move with US Standard Van Lines by phone in July 2021. They stated they were a full-service moving company but after paying a $1,720 deposit I learned they were a broker and their terms and conditions basically stated they weren’t responsible for anything that went wrong with whoever the moving company was going to be. They hired OGM Moving Services based out of Angier, NC. The company has ONE truck. When OGM showed up for my move (a day late) they showed me a Bill of Lading that said my total moving cost was $4,705. I showed them the Binding Moving Estimate from US Standard Van Lines that indicated the total cost was $3,705. I called US Standard Van Lines and the salesman who booked the move would not speak to me. I was transferred to reps who had no clue what to say to me because the company is a complete fraud. They said they could not find a mover to take the job and had to offer them $1000 more from the price I was quoted. But I shouldn’t worry and just pay the extra $1000 and within 30 days US Standard Van Lines would reimburse me. I knew this was a total lie. They sounded totally insincere. I asked them why they could not just call the OGM owner now and agree to pay them the extra $1000. They refused to do that. Things got worse as the truck was loaded by OGM and my dresser smashed through a wall at my old residence. I was told they didn’t know how much of my stuff they could take! I was given about 7 feet lengthwise on their huge truck. I knew I was screwed. I called US Standard Van Lines on that issue and again they were useless and acted like I was trying to move more things than quoted when in fact I had downsized my move by many boxes and furniture! Towards the end of OGM loading the truck they tell me it’s going to be another $1,165 for the space on top of the extra $1000! And they can’t load the desk and a lot of other items that were on my original inventory list! In fact, WAY LESS then my original inventory ever made it to the truck and I was being charged $2,165 EXTRA. I kept calling US Standard Van Lines and got bounced around and placed on terminal hold. OGM Movers took 4 days longer than planned to arrive to FL. The one mover told me the driver was HIGH ON MARIJUANA the entire drive down the coast which was delaying things, along with the ‘boss man’ at OGM having them make about 6 additional stops on the way to FL. By the time they arrived, I was a nervous wreck. I was sure my stuff would never make it. When they opened the truck door, every box I had was smashed and upside down. Some boxes were ripped open on top. I had TV boxes that I used for framed pictures which were totally shattered glass. The TV boxes were diagonally laying on the floor, clearly fell off the top of the truck and flung all over the truck. Fortunately, I took all my computers and TVs in my SUV. They would have been completely destroyed. My dishware was totally smashed. I contacted Chase about all the fraud and destruction. They credited my account $1000 – which was taken from US Standard Van Lines. But OGM forced me to pay cash so I have no easy recourse and because I just started a new job I had no time to get a lawyer either. This all happened 7 months ago and I finally have time to write this review. I reported both companies to FMCSA today and sent them photos of the destroyed boxes. FMCSA investigates mover fraud and safety issues. They already have many complaints on each company and these complaints did not exist back in July ’21. Clearly many people have been taken by US Standard Van Lines and OGM who partner together on this consumer fraud. The complaints for both companies include deception and holding goods hostage. OGM threatened to hold my things in a storage facility if I didn’t pay the extra 58%! I called the police when the criminals arrived at my new residence in FL, but this was totally out of the jurisdiction of the police. They reviewed the paperwork and agreed that I was being defrauded by both companies. I hope everyone writes about their experience since neither of these companies should be operating. Also, ‘US Standard Van Lines’ is a cover. The real company operates out of Miami and is called US Standard Moving and Storage and has a ‘F’ rating with the BBB. Several times when I attempted to call the mobile phone # the salesman at US Standard Van Lines gave me I got a voice message from US Standard Moving and Storage. That company already had destroyed its reputation and was trying to pose under the US Standard Van Lines name. THEY ARE THE SAME CRIMINAL COMPANY. Their management was too inept to change their answering system to use the new company name. Stay away from both of these companies. You will be defrauded out of a lot of money, your things will be destroyed, and it will be the most or one of the most stressful experiences of your life.

STAY AWAY! HIRE ANOTHER COMPANY

SCAM! STAY AWAY! I had to involve the police and lawyer just to get the goods. They will take your money and vanish. As other have said, all the positive reviews are fake. They are a broker company who hired "United Pro Moving, LLC" for the actual moving. The movers did not show up on the day of move and the day after either. Absolutely no communication from them about the change of timings. I called several times and US Standard just kept telling us that they cannot contact the movers either. After calling several times we were given a later date. My belongings were in a warehouse and I had to pay for repeated rescheduling of pickup date. On the new date, the mover (just one guy) showed up 5 hours late, with no blankets and tapes. So we rescheduled again for next day so that he can come with all the required equipment. He then tells me that the goods are double the space I was quoted for. This after picking the goods from a storage unit where I knew the exact cu ft of the goods. I eventually ended up paying extra $600 for more space and "wrapping the furniture" .After the pickup the movers vanished. They don't call, don't respond to messages, even US Standard told us they can't reach them for most of the duration. We got very anxious and stressed as weeks went by with absolutely no update.

Worst customer service. The customer reps are extremely rude and hang up on you. We ended up complaining to the police. After we told them we are involving police, they delivered our stuff. 1.5 months after the pickup. They showed up with a rented truck and hired a couple of local movers to carry the goods to our place. A lot of kitchen items were totally damaged along with furniture.

Save yourself the trouble and hire a better company!

STAY AWAY!!!

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!! Very unprofessional! We clearly told them our situation and what we wanted moved. When the movers got here, they said they had to upcharge us because they had to walk more than 75 ft. and they also had to upcharge us because the second floor was more than 10 STEPS!! We called and talk to a Kathy who basically told us that it was in our contract. Initially, I told the guy to cancel it..and he said he couldn't...then I told him to keep doing the inventory and I will pay the upcharge. As I was talking to my friend on the phone concerning the misinformation, she mentioned not to tip them. The mover then grabbed his papers and said that was not cool and walked out the door. Now...let me be very clear...I have no problems tipping people for great service at all..but to expect a tip before you even begin lifting one thing? And there's no guarantee that the service will be at a minimum 'good'? To get mad and walk out was also very unprofessional of them. So...when I called Standard Van Lines customer service to tell them what happened, I was told 'I'm going to call the movers because there has to be more to this story'....REALLY???!!! Now...first off...I do not get my refund because they are sticking with the fact that I cancelled and ignored the fact that the movers walked out...and I had a witness on the phone. Kathy from customer service stated that she was the 'manager', but was very unprofessional and rude to the point where she started fussing with me because we said we were not going to tip...and then hung up. And to think...as a veteran, this is what I served my country for.

Long-distance move from Dupont, WA to Wilmington, NC

Do not use under any circumstances!

DO NOT USE! WILL OVER CHARGE! Had a horrible experience with Standard Van Lines out of Florida. Had a move from Washington State to North Carolina. I went to a website to get a quote for moving from companies. Standard Van Lines kept calling me and doing the typical high pressure sale approach. They gave me a ridiculous low offer of around $3,000.00 tomove from Washington to NC. I knew it was too good to be true cause I a m not an idiot, but I bite.

First the wanted a security deposit upfront and which went from around 1500 to around 2200 due to some BS. Standard Van Lines is not the actual mover and just a broker. The contractor mover shows up for my 3 bedroom home and now wants an additional nearly $5000.00. They load my stuff into 26ft van.

I get to North Carolina the movers do not show up on Dec 10th, 2021 as agreed and then get less than 24 hours notice they are arriving. Can't take off from work the next day under the short notice and they now charge me a $500.00 overnight fees. Now, my goods are somehow on a Semitruck somehow despite loading on a 26ft Van and the Semi cannot make it into the facility.

Gets better, now I have to rent an additional truck out of my own pocket to move my belongings in a Walmart parking lot to my apartment a few miles away. And I have to pay an additional 300.00 dollars for the additional movers. In the delivery driver whom was completely different from the pickup driver naow.charges.me roughly $5,500.00 additional and he even told me that Standard Van Lines was doing something fishy. So in total, my estimate of about $ 3,000.00 went to about $13,000. Do not use them period. Horrible company in my opinion.
